What's involved in reglazing my glasses?

Reglazing glassesalso known as lens replacementis the process of replacing the lenses in your existing glasses frames with new lenses. This is often a cost-effective alternative to purchasing a brand-new pair of glasses. All you need to do is send us your existing glasses (address supplied after ordering) and we’ll send them back with new lenses fitted within 10 working days.
Can I reglaze just one lens?

While it’s possible to reglaze just one lenswe recommend replacing both lenses if your prescription has changed significantly or if the current lenses are damaged to ensure the best vision and comfort. Please note that if your lenses are coatedtintedpolarisedphotochromic, or varifocalboth lenses will need to be replacedas we cannot reglaze just one in these cases.
Frames we reglaze?

Most glasses and sunglasses frames can be reglazed as long as they’re in good condition and the lenses are the right size and shape for the frames. This includes rimmedsemi-rimlessand rimless frames. Howeverreglazing may not be possible for some off-the-shelf sunglassesso please get in touch with us for specific advice.
How long will my glasses take?
Pupil distance PD?

Pupil distance (PD) refers to the distance between the centers of the pupils in both eyes. It’s
typically measured in millimeters and is important when fitting eyeglasses or designing lenses for optimal vision. There are two main types of pupil distance:
1. Monocular PD: The distance from the center of one pupil to the center of the nosemeasured separately for each eye.
2. Binocular PD: The distance from the center of one pupil to the center of the other pupilmeasured across both eyes. Correct PD measurement ensures that the lenses in eyeglasses are aligned with the eyes’
natural focus points. This is essential for preventing eye strain and ensuring clear vision. PD varies from person to person and can also change with age. Varifocal Bifocal meaurments?

At Cheshire Reglazewe can take measurements from your old spectacles to ensure a perfect fit for your new lenses. If you’ve purchased a new frame or are using a pre-owned onewe’ll need you to send us a picture of yourself wearing the new glasses. This helps us determine the ideal placement for your lenses.

What are Polarised lenses ?

Polarised lenses are specially designed to reduce glare and improve visual clarity by filtering out intense reflected light. They contain a unique chemical coating that blocks horizontal light waveswhich are commonly produced by surfaces like waterroadsand glass. What are full rim frames?

Full-rimmed frames can be divided into two types:
Both are glazed with a bevel or v.

Metal Frames: These use screws to secure the lenses in place. The screws
are small and require precise adjustment to ensure the lenses fit properly
and stay secure.
Plastic Frames: These frames don’t use screws. Insteadthe lenses are
inserted into the frame by carefully matching the lens size to the frame,
relying on the frame’s design to hold the lenses in place without any
screws.

At Cheshire Reglazewe offer tinted lenses in a choice of three absorption levelsavailable in solid or graduated finishes:

20% absorption – Light tint

50% absorption – Mid tint

85% absorption – Dark sunglasses tint

You can choose from the following tint shades:

G15 (Ray-Ban Green)

All 50% and 85% tints come with 100% UV protection for optimal eye safety and comfort.

What are semi rim Supra frames?

Semi-rimmed Supra frames are designed differently from full-rim framesparticularly in how the lenses are fitted. Instead of using a full rim to hold the lensa groove is machined into the edge of the lens to fit perfectly into a corresponding groove in the frame. This means the lens is flat and has no bevelunlike full-rim frames. The groove ensures a secure fitallowing the
lens to be held in place without fully encircling the lensgiving the frame a
lightermore minimalist appearance.
What are Rimless frames?

At Cheshire Reglazewe specialize in glazing rimless glasses using
high-index lenseswhich are stronger and better suited for the frame’s
construction. Rimless frames are typically secured using screws or plugs,
and we recommend high-index lenses to ensure durability and

Whats happens if im not happy with my glasses?

Please advise us of any problems within 7 days and return the glasses to us
within 30 days of receipt with the original invoicestating what is wrong
with them. We will inspect your glasses to ascertain if there are any
prescription issuesand rectify accordingly. Our aim is that you will come
back again and againso we want you to wear our glasses and be pleased
with what you are wearingso pleasebuy with confidence. Any issues or
problemsalthough highly unlikelyWILL be resolved to your satisfaction. If
we cannot resolve the issue or you are still unhappy with your purchase
then we will offer a full refund.

Can I can cancel or amend after I've placed my order?
Can you read my prescription from my existing glasses?

Using our state-of-the-art laboratory equipmentwe can read the exact
prescription from your current glasses. Simply send us your glassesand
we’ll determine your prescription at no charge. Your original glasses will be
returned to you. Please note that you must provide written confirmation
that your glasses were made with a prescription that is less than 2 years
old. This certification must accompany your glasses when sent to us.

Can I get my glasses quicker?

Express Service at Cheshire Optical
We offer an express service that works a little differently from our standard
process:
1. Place Your Order – Complete your order through our website.
2. Request Express Service – We’ll need some additional detailsincluding a
front-facing photo of you wearing your frames. This allows us to
begin your order without requiring your frames immediately. Do not
post your frames yet!
3. Wait for Confirmation – Once your lenses are readywe will notify
you. At this pointsend us your frames along with the necessary
paperwork via next-day delivery (shipping method of your choice).
4. Fast Processing & Return – Upon receiving your glasseswe will
process them the same day and dispatch them via next-day delivery.
This means you may only be without your glasses for around three
days.
5. Pricing – The express service is available for £30.00 per pair.

What happens if my frame break?

As specialists in our fieldwe ensure high-quality productsand breakage is very rare. While we don’t cover the full value of your glasses in case of damagewe do offer a free repair service. If a repair isn’t possiblewe will assist you in finding a similar or equivalent frame at the best possible price for you to purchase.
Can you reglaze sunglasses?

You can also reglaze your sunglasses with prescription lenses or swap out the current lenses for new tinted or polarized options. While we can’t always match the exact tintwe always strive to get as close as possible to your original look and preferences. Whether you need prescription lenses or just an upgradewe’re here to help. As a rule we recomend that you change both lenses to ensure a match.
Will my glasses need refitting?

This is very rareas we take care to return your frames in the same condition and shape they were sent to us. If the fit isn’t rightmost opticians will adjust them free of charge. Alternativelyif neededyou can send the glasses back to usand we’ll take care of any adjustments for you.
Why no standard (1.5) lenses on rimless?

At Cheshire Reglaze, we prioritise your experience and satisfaction. That’s why we do not offer 1.5 index lenses for rimless frames. Unlike full or semi-rimmed frameswhich provide extra supportrimless glasses rely entirely on the lens for structural integrity. Lower-index lensessuch as 1.5are more prone to breakage due to everyday wearaccidental dropsor general stress. To ensure durability and long-lasting qualitywe only provide lenses that meet our high standards for strength and reliability.
Why a photo in my glasses?

Simply take a photo of yourself wearing your glasses you want reglazingthis will enable us to plot your pd and varifocal-bifocal measurement. This is more important if you are changing your lenses from single vision to varifocals or bifocalsor if you have purchased a new frame. Think passport photo smile optional.
